still there???

Lori is doing pretty well. Patti is currently in Atlanta. She and Lori saw "the proposal" at the movie theatre yesterday -- Lori's first movie in months.

Hoping for some more energy every day.

Good news is that we don't think she will need a shunt for the excess fluid on her brain. Her headaches have receded a bit, which is GREAT!

I think that lorisneed.com is offline at the moment. Working with Beth Ragland to fix that.

Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers.

May 2009

Hi,
Thanks for continuing to check on me.   We are working with the talented Beth Ragland to update the home page of lorisneed.com.   I'm so sorry I'm unable to fill any orders for my artwork at this time.  Though, I am continuing to paint when I can and I love doing it.

I am doing pretty well at home.   I don't have alot of energy, and I'm  still contending with headaches, but we are consulting with different doctors regarding the best course of action. Doctors drained some fluid from around my brain last week to determine if a SHUNT would be beneficial.   I had a few good days following the procedure, but this morning, my head began hurting again.  We'll see!!

My cousin, Camille, is getting married this weekend in Gulfport.  Congratulations!!!!!  I'm so happy for her, and I wish I could attend the wedding!

Thank you!!!!!!
Love,
LORI

hello!!!!

Johnny is typing for Lori.

"THANK YOU so much for all of your thoughts, calls, notes, prayers, and support.   As frustrating as all of this has been, and as difficult as it is to get through the day sometimes, I am able to find the strength I need from all of the support I am getting from all of you!  I can't thank you enough."

Lori continues to have headaches.  She is consulting with a new neurosurgeon on WED to try to find out "what the hell is going on!!!" :-)

Staph Infection:  she's finished taking the current medication, but she will have to monitor it from now on.  It's currently inactive.

She says, "I am so looking forward to feeling good enough to get back out in the real world.  I want to catch up with you soon....and maybe even take some trips!!"

Hi there! Here's the Latest

Lori is home recovering from gall bladder surgery.  Surgery was successful, but Lori is now contending with 2 new problems.

1. NPH - Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus.  Excessive fluid in the brain.   Could be a cause of some of Lori's headaches and memory problems.  May need a shunt inserted in the brain to alleviate that pressure.   We are consulting doctors about the next steps to take.

2.  MRSA -  Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus.  A staph infection we believe she contracted while at the hospital.   Just found out about that today.   Consulting with doctors.

Patti is now in Atlanta with Lori.  Johnny and Shorty just visited Lori a couple of weeks ago.
Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers.   Hope ya'll are doing well.

Helloooo

Hope everyone is doing well out there.

Just wanted to update you with what's going on with me.
Generally, things are better.  Results from my most recent MRI and blood work looked good.   Headaches are better.  My Energy is a little stronger.

Some days are better than others.   On the days when I'm stuggling, I always think about the support you've all given me.  Thank you.

I'm enjoying my time with Max the Cat.

Love,
Lori

P.S.  Please keep my friend, Leslie White Mills, in your thoughts and prayers.  She is in the hospital after giving a premature birth to her first baby, a boy.

Time Flies

Sorry for the delay in posting an Update.

Patti is in Atlanta with Lori, and they are having a pretty good week.  Lori has slept well the last several nights, which is great.   No abnormal fever either...WoooHoooo!!
Lori will have some Bloodwork done this week checking her White Blood Cell Count.
Having completed the schedule of antibiodics, Lori was able to have the PICC line removed from her arm.
This past week, Lori got in her chair for a few hours every day, and she painted a few things, too.
Unfortunately, Lori is still struggling with headaches during the day.

Lori wants everyone to know how much she appreciates your concern for her.

thank you.

Happy 4th of July

Lori is doing pretty well but sort of had a rough week.

Doctors changed Lori's anti-seizure medicine twice, once because it seemed like Lori had an allergic reaction to one. (We don't think Lori is at risk of another seizure, because the abscess was removed; Doctors are just being cautious.) Lori had some high fever with chills and sweats during a few nights. Still not sure of the cause.

Headaches continue to be a problem periodically.

Following up with Doctors this week.

Lori sat in her wheelchair each day last week, painting one day. She and johnny rode around in her van Saturday listening to and singing with Elvis Presley, Led Zeppelin and Bad Company at full volume.

thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers.

this is Johnny typing. Lori is over my shoulder offering me unsolicited advice and says to you: "I can't thank you enough for all of your support and i'm wondering when you'll say 'we've done enough for you....it's our turn now!' :-) I hope all of you had a great 4th of July weekend."
